Sun, sun, go away, come again some other day

I never wanted to live in Southern California. The idea of day after day after day after day of sun isn't appealing. In fact, it's creepy—like the dolls your grandmother had that looked like they could be extras in Bride of Chucky. Instead of those dolls' glacial blue eyes though, we're caught in the glare of a solar cyclops that is drying up wells, fissuring the land, and causing trees to weep shrivelled leaves.

I'm sick to death of it too.

My first instinct was to say "Bah humbug!"

But then I thought - I do like to experience a variety of weather And day after day of heat would be too much for me. And of course, you said this far more eloquently than I ever could.

I had dinner with three people from Toronto last night. One mentioned the offputting weather.

it's killing us down a bit south of you, too. It's too much, it's too weird, I forget now what rain was like.
